Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom

Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom

Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom

Today I am super excited to be sharing with you Sebastian’s NEW Transport Inspired Big Boys Bedroom. This room has actually been a couple of months in the making and even though Sebastian could have probably moved rooms earlier, we held off until his second birthday as we wanted the move to be because he a was a ‘big boy’ not because the baby was coming and he ‘had to’ move.

The benefit of this was it gave me plenty of time to plan, collect, DIY and upcycle items for there debut (my poor husband). A couple of weeks ago I posted about a ‘hack’ I did on a couple of Shadow Box Houses which now look right at home and are the perfect little space for showcasing special items. As well as the shadow box houses, I made the Wall Art, upcycled some Crates for toy storage in his wardrobe and DIY’ed some Toy Car Jars. I will be posting how to’s / tutorials in the coming weeks for these items which I created and / or gave a bit of a DIY face lift too.

Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys BedroomSebastian is a real boy. He loves anything that moves, anything with wheels or wings. So when coming up with a theme for his room, transport fitted the ‘brief’ of my young client. It covered everything that he loved – cars, trucks, planes, cranes, trains, diggers and helicopters. You name it if its transport related he loves it. As for me and my ‘brief’ for his room, I wanted to create a space for him that was bright, happy, playful and fun and I wanted something that could grow with him. While I love the monochrome look, it isn’t really me so we went for bright, bold colours.

As you can see we went with all white furniture (same as the nursery), our bedrooms aren’t huge so all white furniture makes them seem that much bigger and allows the colours and accents to really pop.

Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys BedroomI instantly fell in love with his duvet when I saw it and knew it was coming straight home with me. I think it fitted the brief of ‘transport’ and ‘bright’ really well, making for a happy mum and a happy Sebastian. Plus, the car cushions were an extra win. We have had so many lovely afternoons already snuggled up on his bed reading stories before his nap. I really feel the cushions add to the cosiness.

Transport Inspired Boys Bedroom Transport Inspired Boys BedroomOne of my favourite pieces in his room is the DIY custom book shelf which Steve made for the room. We had a little very little nook just inside the room which was no use really, so Steve got to work and came up with this laddered bookcase that I think is pretty fantastic. Plus, it means more place to store and display things. It is currently home to a collection of wooden cars that were Steve’s when he was a little one and other bits and bobs. I love it is totally changeable and that I Sebastian can put whatever he wants on it, allowing it to grow with him.

We made use of the space behind his bedroom door and stuck up a ‘transport themed’ wall decal height chart, which he already finds lots of fun going up to and measuring himself against. There may also have been some driving of his cars around it too (because isn’t that what you do on a road!?!) 😉

So there you have it… A tour of Sebastian’s Transport Inspired Big Boys Bedroom. I had so much fun putting all the bits and pieces together; I am really happy with how it all turned out. And from the look on my little mans face when he saw his room for the first time he is too, which at the end of the day is the most important thing!

Transport Inspired Boys BedroomTell me.. What did you think about Sebastian’s NEW Transport Inspired Big Boys Bedroom? What themes have you done for your kiddies bedrooms?

I LOVE this Lydia! What a fun room for a ‘big boy’! I am loving all of your diy creations. Well done Mama!

I am actually doing the jars for a second birthday present for one of our friends.

      Thanks Charlene!
I so much fun putting it all together 🙂 it is nice when your hard work pays off.
An FYI on the jars make sure you use screws from below, we used a couple of different types of glue and both came off the first time he touched (pulled at them) xx

This is adorable. Such a great room for the little man to meet all of his transportation needs. I really like those jars with the little cars on top. Hope to comeback again for the tutorials.

This is really beautiful – what a gorgeous big boys bedroom. My favourite bit’s are the custom bookshelf tucked away as you walk in the door and the little bottles with the cars on top – too clever. Sebastian must love this space. Your neighbour at Sundays down under link party this week.

Sebastian does love it, which is great as it made the transition easier 🙂

I love the features and details in your boy’s room Lydia. That duvet cover is very cool and the wall art and general styling are simple but modern and perfect for your little boy. Well done on creating such a fabulous room and thank you for linking up with #HIT.
