Recently, I was sent a copy of ‘The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep’. Now if you haven’t heard about this book and have little ones who struggle to go to sleep then you should put it on your Christmas Shopping list ASAP!
This gorgeous story “follows Roger the rabbit, who takes a journey to fall asleep in the evening, with the help of some friends he meets along the way; Uncle Yawn, Heavy Eyed Owl and Sleepy Snail, to name a few”. Written by Psychologist Carl-Johan Forssen Ehrlin ‘The Rabbit Who Wanted to Fall Asleep’ is designed to help your child fall asleep, by teaching them to feel calm and relax.
It is a beautiful story with lovely, soft pictures and uses ‘positive reinforcement techniques to promote relaxation and induce sleep in a safe and innovative way’; and whilst, there are NO guarantees your little one will fall asleep straight away, they will go to bed feeling calm and relaxed (which is a great starting point).
I loved this story, it left me with warm fuzzies and at 2 o’clock in the morning when you cant sleep (thanks, pregnancy insomnia) I was definitely left feeling relaxed and so very close to drifting off to the land of nod (see it even works on adults). I really look forward to being able to read it to Sebastian in the future, even if he doesn’t have trouble sleeping as it is such a lovely story and will leave us both feeling calm and relaxed. I only hope I can finish reading it to him without falling asleep myself!
