Easter Bunny Treat Jars

With Easter just around the corner (think less than two weeks away), I thought it was time to get crafty and what better way than with these little Easter Bunny jars. I thought they would be perfect gifts for our nieces, especially when filled with mini chocolate eggs, chickens and bunnies. They look super cute and the girls will be able to use the jars afterwards to store trinkets and treasures in.  Plus, they gave me the perfect excuse as I have been dying to find a reason to ‘need’ Washi Tape.

If you follow on Facebook you would have seen that I have only just started my washi tape collection. Until now, I have been in washi tape denial. I have seen it; pinned it like mad over on Pinterest and on more than one occasion stood in the shop toying over buying it, but I always come away empty handed for fear of starting something which I can not stop. They are all just so pretty –  I can think of many uses for them,  fun things I can glam up, things to create but I am worried once I start I am sure there is no going back! At the end of the day, starting was far too easy – I ‘needed’ it for our nieces Easter gifts. Only thing is… I now ‘need’ more for other projects. And so it begins… My Washi Tape Collection!

To make these cuties – you will need:

• Screw Top Jar, any size and shape
• Washi Tape, the world’s your oyster
• Pompom Bunnies – I was going to make them using a pompom, googly eyes and a bit of felt for ears and feet, however, found some at Spotlight
• Easter grass
• Chocolate eggs, chickens and bunnies for filling  (maybe grab a couple of extra for quality control purposes)

Before getting creative ensure the jar is clean, dry and label removed  (I bought these particular ones, however a hunt through the kitchen cupboards would find some I’m sure). Carefully apply strips of washi tape to the lid of the jar (I had mine all overlapping ever so slightly), leaving an overhang on both ends (I found the spotty tape really easy to work with, when it came to the stripy one it took a bit longer making sure all the lines lined up).

Once the top is covered, trim the overhanging tape so only a few millimetres remain. Seal this around the jar. Apply washi tape to the side of the lid (I was really lucky as the lids were the same width as the washi tape otherwise I would have had to either trim them or seal it down on the top).

Attach your pompom bunnies and fill with Easter grass and your choice of chocolate eggs,  chickens and bunnies (or you could fill with something else entirely – Easter stickers, erasers etc). Voila!    I am really please with how these turned out and I can’t wait to give them to our nieces at Easter.
