I know, I know it seems ridiculous that I’m choosing today of all days to be sharing with you a recipe (or put together) for yoghurt Pops or popsicles especially when Winter feels like it’s just around the corner if not arrived in some places already. But it is humid as up here and so these have gone down as such a treat, in fact I whipped up a new batch only just yesterday and Sebastian thinks they are the best treat ever #mumwin
There is nothing difficult about this recipe, completely the opposite it is super easy and super yum too. Over Summer I have made a few different variations of these Yoghurt Pops from plain yoghurt to layered yoghurt (when I was feeling extra fancy); to ones with chopped or frozen fruit added, however the all time favourite was the ones with homemade strawberry puree added.
These Yoghurt Pops make a delicious afternoon snack for everyone.
You will need:
- Yoghurt – mostly I use homemade however, use whatever you have on hand (plain, flavoured, sweetened, unsweetened, Greek the choice is yours)
- Fruit – generally speaking I use frozen berries and they go down a treat, but if you have fresh on hand go for gold. As I mentioned above our all time favourite was the ones I made with homemade strawberry puree
- Silicone Food Tray – I use both of these from Munch and Duck Twaddle
- Wooden Popsicle sticks – I prefer the fat ones and I also cut then in half so they are not so long…
Spoon fruit into the bottom of you silicone food tray and top with your chosen yoghurt. Wipe or scrape off any excess before covering with a layer or two of plastic wrap. Once covered carefully cut a slit in middle of each section of your food tray and add a Popsicle stick. Pop into the freezer until set. I then like to remove them all from the tray and store in a plastic bag for easy accessibility. Enjoy!
Note: I use the coloured Popsicle sticks once and as much as the kids LOVED them and they sure did look cool, they left colouring in the yoghurt so I would just stick to plain wooden ones
Are these something your kids would enjoy? What flavours would you choose?
