Welcome friends to our fortnightly series showcasing some of the awesome Mum’s who are not just raising fab families but who are also in business for themselves. Every fortnight I’ll share a cuppa (so to speak) with an awesome Mum and learn a bit more about the face behind their business. Personally, I am always intrigued and in awe by those running businesses – the how, the why. I firmly believe that “when you support small business, you’re supporting a dream”. So join us each fortnight as we support each other; as we support a dream!
Today, we have the lovely Leigh from Only Love joining us. Another lovely Mum who I once again I have the opportunity to meet through the wonderful world of social media. For those of you who are new to Only Love, Leigh creates and collates the most gorgeous luxury gift hampers for babies and baby shower’s. All products used in the gift cases are hand picked by Leigh herself, so their selection is fresh and different, meaning you can go back time and time again and never get bored.
There is something special about buying a gift that has been hand selected, you just know that what you are buying is special, it is filled with love and lets be honest who doesn’t like to give a gift like that ♥ If one of Only Love’s premade cases not quite what you are looking for then Leigh also offers the option to ‘create your own’ case, the cases themselves are gorgeous – I have bought a couple for Isabelle’s room. Now, if you haven’t already popped on over and checked out Only Love, then I strongly suggest you do. Just… don’t forget to come back here and find out more about the lovely Mum creating these gorgeous hampers.
Tell us a bit about yourself, Leigh..
I’m a work from home mum with 2 girls, Ava 4 years old and Daisy 16 months. Before children I was a hairdresser for 11 years but have been a stay at home mum since. I love being creative and use to have a small online business in 2013 sewing childrens clothing which I closed before Daisy arrived due to lack of time. I wanted to use my creativity again but knew sewing just wasn’t realistic for me unless I wanted to be up all hours of the night.
Where did the name Only Love come from?
I wanted a name that would reflect the feels of gift giving. ‘Only Love’ matched that perfectly. “When we choose a gift it’s with love; When we give a gift it’s with love; And when we receive a gift we feel loved!!!”
What made you decide to start your own business?
I love giving gifts and felt there was a gap in the market for on trend gift hampers that were something special and different to the classic “gift hamper”. I wanted to offer keepsake, quality, ontrend and mostly kiwimade/handmade gifts for new babys and babyshowers. Starting next month we will also be offering a new range of gift boxes suitable for a house warming, thank you, get well soon and also corporate boxes for businesses.
What’s your favourite part about what you do?
I love researching and sourcing gorgeous products especially when they are made by talented kiwis! I’m a bit of a gift wrapping addict so putting together your beautiful gift cases and purchases is definitely a favourite part of the job. I love the gift cases I’ve put together and I love seeing what my customers choose.
When your not working on your business, what do you find yourself doing?
I don’t have alot of spare time between work, my girls and cleaning the house #mumlife I just love spending time together when my husband isn’t working getting out and having fun with the girls. I do love sewing but haven’t found time to start any projects since Daisy was born. Hopefully once the girls are a bit older I can sew for them.
A lot of my readers are Mums who will spend on their children but forget about themselves, do you have any pearls of wisdom for them…
Make sure you have some me time every day even if it’s 15-30 mins leave the housework and sit in the sun with a coffee, catch up on your fav programme or read a trashy magazine it can really re-energise you and good for the soul especially if your feeling overwhelmed.
