Welcome friends to our fortnightly series showcasing some of the awesome Mum’s who are not just raising fab families but who are also in business for themselves. Every fortnight I’ll share a cuppa (so to speak) with an awesome Mum and learn a bit more about the face behind their business. Personally, I am always intrigued and in awe by those running businesses – the how, the why. I firmly believe that “when you support small business, you’re supporting a dream”. So join us each fortnight as we support each other; as we support a dream!
Today we have an awesome Mumma in business who I feel very lucky to call a friend too. Funnily enough we ‘meet’ through the wonderful world of social media when I fell in love with her bows and of course business on Instagram. Isabelle (my little girl) has since become a Brand Rep for Isabella Bows and to be honest with you I’m not sure who is more excited, her or me (ok, me probably) 😉
In case you are still wondering, today’s lovely Mum is Victoria the face behind Isabella Bows, she creates the most gorgeous handmade hair ribbons and hair bows for your little princess. I fell in love with her range of bows from the very beginning, they reminded me of the ribbons my Mum used to put in my hair growing up. All of Isabella Bows bows are beautifully handmade from grosgrain ribbon. From baby bow headbands, to barrette clips, medium and large bow and bow headbads; she has hair bows and accessories for everyone. She has recently launched three new ranges which include fairy dust, velvet and flat bows – I’m looking forward to adding some of these to our every growing collection although I am going to have to come up with another way of storing them as our collection grows… If you have a little princess in your life (or know of one) then I strongly suggest you pop on over and have a look at her website, you won’t be disappointed. But don’t forget to pop on back and find out more about Victoria and Isabella Bows.
Tell us a bit about yourself, Victoria
I am Mum to sweet little two year old Isabella and wife to David. My business is named after and inspired by my daughter who is a total girly girl and the only girl I know who asks for a bow to be put in her hair as soon as she wakes, ‘Mummy, bow, bow!’ I have a degree in fashion design and before starting Isabella Bows was managing the apparel department for a large company. Nowadays my focus is on my family and making the world a prettier place one bow at a time!
Where did the name Isabella Bows come from?
I named the business after Isabella as I wanted it to be something special for her. She was my inspiration for starting Isabella Bows, is my perfect little hair model with her mass of curls and is my reason for everything I do in life. Isabella herself is named after my Great Grandmother. I’ve always thought it was a beautiful name and hoped that one day I’d have a daughter called Isabella.
What made you decide to start your own business?
I’ve always loved hair bows but struggled to find the type I liked, or when I did they were really expensive. My husband encouraged me to start making my own and it just grew from there.
Seeing my gorgeous customers in their bows.
When your not working on your business, what do you find yourself doing?
Being a busy Mum to a toddler! I also help my husband out with his business paperwork and on the rare occasion when I have time to myself I enjoy sitting down with a magazine and a coffee.
