Christmas is a truly magical time of year and this year was no different, in fact it was the best one yet with Sebastian! Last year he was this adorable cuddly blob and Christmas passed by him in a whirlwind of bottles and cuddles (I’m not complaining, I LOVE those cuddles), this year though he was able to be much more involved. It was really lovely to see how he reacted to the whole thing. Being a parent at Christmas is the BEST thing ever, far better than being a kid even. Especially when you get to see your little ones face, the pure joy and excitement. Nothing can beat that!
Christmas for us officially starts on Christmas Eve with dinner at our place with my Mum and Dad and brother. It is relaxed, low key and lovely. We open presents first before Sebastian goes to bed, before enjoying dinner, dessert and a drink or two just the adults. Then its off to bed for us all so Santa can visit. Sebastian is still too small to know about Santa so we didn’t leave him out anything this year (we will start next year).
On Christmas morning as excited as I was, I waited until Sebastian woke us at about 7am, relishing those last few moments in bed. Once he was awake we opened his stocking from Santa in bed with us, before we all headed into the lounge to open the rest of our presents together. Sebastian loved his bike and straight away started riding it around the house. This slow pace was the perfect way to start our otherwise full on day. The rest of our day was filled with eating, present opening, and (most importantly!) spending the day with family. We attended brunch, lunch and dinner with different sides of the family, eating our way through ham, turkey, salads and desserts (I kind of felt like a Christmas ham on boxing day, if I am honest). To me though, celebrating with family, is what Christmas is all about and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
So, to put it simply.. Christmas was awesome and we were all spoilt. Not just in the way of gifts (although we definitely were lucky) but in the fact we have family and friends around to share it with. Close ones. Loved ones. And as for my boys, having them in my life is the BEST. GIFT. EVER!
I would love to hear how you celebrated the festive season? If your a blogger link up your Christmas post for me to have a nosey at..
