Every year I say I’m going to be more organized and every year I’m never quite as organised as I would like to be. In fact the only year I was completely, utterly finished for Christmas with the exception of food shopping was last year when I was pregnant with Isabelle and the thought / notion of being due any time around Christmas forced me to be. Part of the issue I have is that I like love giving, therefore find it really easy to ‘add’ to my gift list. There the usual.. immediate family, extended family, close friends and their kiddies, plus neighbors and this year I’m excited to add Preschool teachers to the list. Maybe I should even add our courier to the list (there are three whom we have gotten to know over the year, so much so Sebastian waves to them when we’re out and about!) Personally, I love gifts that can be made. So baking and boxing up sweet treats is defintelly high on my list of to dos come Christmas time. I feel like there is something so special about being giving a gift that is made. Now, don’t get me wring there are plenty of times when a box of good old favourites get given but when I can I like to jump in the kitchen and put something together.
That’s where this Chocolate Brownie in a Jar comes in. It is the perfect gift to have ‘on hand’. I love the fact you can make one, two or twelve (???) up in advance and give as /when necessary. An added bonus is if you don’t end up giving them all you have perfectly pre measured brownie mix ready to go, so you can kick the New Year of with some homemade goodies for yourself! #winning
This Chocolate Brownie in a Jar is so easy. In a 1 liter glass jar, layer…
- 1 1/4 cups plain Flour and 1/2 teaspoon Salt (I like to split this in two when layering so half now and half after the cocoa)
- 1/3 cup Cocoa
- 2/3 cup Brown Sugar
- 2/3 cup White Sugar
- 1/2 dark or milk Chocolate Drops
- 1/2 white Chocolate Drops
- Roughly 1/3 cup walnuts (or whatever nuts you prefer, alternatively leave out)
Finish some Christmassy ribbon, a wooden spoon, candy cane, these baking instructions and your good to go. Seriously, how cute do these look?!? Can someone please make me one…
