Vanilla and Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub

February 16, 2016 by lydiaritchie 12 Comments

Hello! I am excited to have my good friend Maria joining us. Maria and I meet through this good thing called blogging and have bonded not just over our blogs but also our kiddies. She is a stay at home Mum to  two gorgeous little ones – Locky and Cooper (Fun Fact! If we’d have had a boy we were going to call him Cooper). Today, Maria is sharing with us all a fabulous face scrub which I for one are in serious need of – think its time to raid the pantry!

Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub

Hi guys!

I’m so excited to be here today guest blogging and sharing my passion to create with all of you lovely Always Made With Love readers! Thank you to Lydia for asking me to come on board and share a DIY with you guys. Today I wanted to show you how easy it is to make skincare out of ordinary ingredients that you will have in your pantry. It’s easy and very, very cheap which I love because not everyone has the money to spend a fortune on skincare and cosmetics. Plus you know exactly what your putting on your skin and it’s all natural!
 Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub
I’m a huge loved of homemade products. I love making them and coming up with new blends and combinations that will help my skin. I love it when I get good results. My background is in Beauty Therapy. Some call it Beautician but my skills and qualifications are higher than just pedicures and basic treatments. I’ve always has a passion for essential oils and worked selling and prescribing blends to customers and also worked in a beautiful Day Spa focused around natural and organic skin care. So as you can imagine I get excited when I create my little homemade scrubs and skincare and even more excited when the results are fabulous.

Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub
Considering my skin felt lifeless and pretty gross I wanted something that was going to boost my skin, give it a good deep clean but keep it hydrated all at the same time. My skin has also felt quite dry of late so I didn’t want to add anything that was going to further dry my skin.

I searched my pantry and came up with this delicious blend. That’s the thing I love about homemade scrubs, you can really play around with blends and mixes and use lots of ingredients from your kitchen pantry!

Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub

The core ingredients I chose to use in this Vanilla And Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub are:

Green Tea
Green Tea improves the overall health of your skin and is an antioxidant. A perfect ingredient if you are a smoker or have been easting or drinking a little more than usual. It will help give your skin the detox your skin needs. It is also amazing to drink green tea on a regular basis for even more benefits.

Oats (Oatmeal)
Oatmeal is one of those ingredients that tends to sit in the background while others tend to stay in the spotlight. I love this ingredients because it has so many benefits. Among some of it’s great benefits oatmeal is a great ingredient for hypersensitive skins, it is anti-inflammatory and it contains a natural mild cleaning agent to assist in deep cleaning your skin. It helps exfoliate your skin and is knows to help with skin conditions like eczema and skin rashes. These are just a few of it’s wonderful benefits.

Green Tea Oatmeal Face Scrub
Lavender
Not everyone likes the smell of lavender but this essential oil is packed full of amazing benefits. It is a gentle floral fragrance that helps to relax your senses. It is a healing oil as well as assist in conditions like acne. It helps to hydrate and keep skin balanced. If you don’t like the smell of this oil you can use a different oil like chamomile, jasmine or rose to give your scrub a beautiful smell and some lovely hydrating and healing benefits.

Organic Honey
Honey is another super power is the world of natural skincare ingredients. This delicious ingredient is filled with antioxidants and is also antibacterial. It hydrates, exfoliates at the same time as helps to heal skin, fights acne and aids in slowing down the aging process.

Olive Oil
A lot of people may cringe at the idea of putting something like basic olive oil on their face but this oil has so many great benefits. It’s another natural antioxidant and contains Vitamin E. It helps to unclog pored and assists with exfoliation.

So as you can see though this face scrub isn’t the prettiest thing getting around it sure does deliver some wonderful benefits to your skin and I can completely vouch for it as I created it and tried it on my skin first before even considering photographing the product and publishing this post.

I really found my skin to feel SO much better after. The only downfall I find to this scrub is that the bits of green tea can be a little difficult to completely get off with just water so have a face washer on hand to wash off any excess left stuck on your skin. If you make a big batch of this scrub you can also use it all over the body.

Here’s the full recipe for you!

That sounds so pampering! I have heard of using oatmeal in scrubs many times but did not know all the great benefits. Think I’m in definite need of a facial scrub!
