Over the weekend Sebastian and I whipped up some of these Chocolate Bark Bites for Mother’s Day. They are a fun twist on the usual chocolates and lets be honest which mum doesn’t like chocolate, especially chocolate that is made with love.
I think chocolate bark is so much fun. Search for it on Pinterest and you will come up with chocolate bark for every occasion. The only real limit is your imagination. I thought it would be neat to make some chocolate bark for Mother’s Day, after all what grandmother is going to turn down a gift handmade by their two and a half year old grandson.. To put another spin on it I decided to use the heart shaped silicone ice cube tray I had in the cupboard and I think they turned out just great. In fact I can see myself making them in years to come for some little peoples birthday parties.
I love that they are super quick and easy plus they are fun for the kids to make too. Sebastian had so much fun putting all the toppings into the moulds and licking the bowl. The longest part (especially) for children is wait for the chocolate to set, in hind sight I could have done with a couple of moulds but I only had the one.
We decided to use dark, milk and white melts with a variety of toppings. I think they turned out pretty sweet looking 😉 all packaged up in little cellophane bags tied with pretty ribbon and finished off with a cute little gift tag.
To make your own Chocolate Bark Bites you will need:
- Chocolate Melts – I chose to use a mixture of dark, milk and white melts
- Toppings of choice – crushed peanuts; sprinkles; mini m & m’s; mini marshmallows and soft sugar pearls
- Silicone ice cube tray
Start by placing a thin layer of your selected toppings into your silicone mould (this is the perfect job for your little helper to do); I just put out all the toppings and with a little bit of guidance left him to it. It actually took a bit of time using a spoon to scoop the topping into the moulds.
Next melt your chocolate, I placed it in a glass bowl and popped it in the microwave for bursts 30 seconds until the chocolate had melted. In our microwave it takes roughly 90 seconds give or take. Spoon your melted chocolate into your mould and pop into the fridge to set (takes about an hour).
Once completely set, pop your chocolate bark bites out of the moulds. Package up in a little cellophane bag, tie with pretty ribbon and finish off with one of these cute tags.
I love how they turned out and I can definitely see myself making them again. What toppings would you put on your chocolate bark bites?
I made this Rose Petal Sugar Scrub for a Mother’s Day gift too, the perfect handmade, homemade luxury!

I’m so behind ! I haven’t’ even heard of chocolate bark before ( Maybe I can make it launch in the Uk?!) but I will be trying it out now I’ve seen this! Mother’s day has been and gone in the UK but I always think a home made gift is better than a shop bought one of those kind of days X
